NATPE Budapest- José Escalante from Latin Media: Producers and Sellers of dramas, we have to reinvent ourselves
Tuesday 20 June 2017
Latin Media is presenting in Natpe Budapest a catalog of Turkish and Filipins dramas. This allows us to offer different product than just a series. This is the opinion of José Escalante, CEO of the company, “they are falling in Europe”.
“We have to reinvent the producers and sellers of dramas,” he said.
For him, they are being replaced by Turkish love stories and those of Eastern European regions that travel between them. “They continue to produce classic dramas, and the Latin American drama took another profile, more action, drug. It still has the stories of love, but supplemented by other elements.”
He also pointed out that another cause of this fall is that the last dramas that were transmitted in the area gave very low rating. “I think we had saturated the market with the product. Not all productions were good and there was additional production in Latin America.”
The executive said that we have to recover the market for the dramas and “that will only happen if we have a classic product, well done produced, that starts competing with the Turkish dramas that are dominating the area.”
